Six small habits that hold the whitening result.
The shade you walk out with is the easy part. Holding it for 12 to 24 months is about following the list below — especially in the first 48 hours, when the bleached enamel is at its most porous.
White diet for 48 hours — strict
No coffee, chai, black tea, red wine, cola, curry, turmeric, soy sauce, tomato or paan. Anything that would stain a white shirt will stain bleached enamel for the first 48 hours. After day 2 you can be more relaxed but still cautious until day 7.
Use a desensitising toothpaste 1 week before and after
Switching to Sensodyne or similar 7 days either side of the session dramatically reduces post-treatment cold sensitivity. By day 3 to 4 sensitivity is usually completely gone.
